Senile Ectropion Correction
OUR RESULTS

SENILE ECTROPION
“Senile” or involutional ectropion results from age-related laxity or degeneration of eyelid support structures, when your eyelid turns away from your eyeball. Drooping of the eyelid causes exposure of the eyeball causing discomfort, inflammation and dryness due to the inadequate lubrication of the eye.
Ectropion can occur to both the upper or lower eyelid, but most commonly with the lower eyelid.
Causes:
- Aging: The most common cause in older adults due to the natural relaxation and stretching of the eyelid muscles and skin.
- Facial nerve palsy: weakness of the facial muscles can affect the eyelid position.
- Skin conditions: Eyelid skin diseases can lead to scarring ectropion
- Trauma or surgery: injuries or surgeries on the eye lid done previously can cause ectropion.
