CIRCUMCISION:
Circumcision is a surgical procedure to remove the foreskin of the penis. Circumcision can be performed in geriatric individuals for medical reasons like recurrent infections, phimosis or hygiene issues. In some individuals it may also be done for religious reasons.
Symptoms:
- Medical reasons: Recurrent infections, inflammation of the foreskin and phimosis (tightening of the foreskin)
- Hygiene: To improve hygiene, especially with age related difficulties in performing proper cleaning.
- Non-medical reasons: Cultural or religious beliefs can be a reason to choose circumcision as a personal choice.
