The lockdown period has been of an equal challenge for Healthcare workers. The resident doctors and the health workers have been working in trying circumstances. In such a time, when many of them required food and shelter, the TATAs came to their rescue providing good food and decent shelter both. And that too voluntarily and free of cost or at a highly subsidized rate. Tatas have always risen to the occasion and have always stood by, in any crisis the nation has faced. Since ages..
A similar story has been of Wipro chief Azim Premji who is known for his philanthropy. They have been role models for every company. The quarantine facilities offered by the company itself speaks volumes about their value.
There may be many other industrialists who help voluntarily with the help of society.
My question is: How do we repay them as a society? Forgive me for my ignorance but Have we taken pains to help them over others. When we have to go to buy products, we start choosing what is best for us, which is cheap for us.
When have we ever given priority just because they are TATAsor WIPROs?
Why does the share market investors not sell these shares? Why don't they book profit only when absolutely necessary, just to help the company? Can we not be a little biased and wink a bit to help those companies who always rise to the occasion to help society? Can we not be a little less selfish?
As a society, we must also be less self-centered. If the COVID crisis cannot teach us and bring some insight into our thinking, I don't think we ever will.
